A 12 week course which has been developed to help you consider what you want to get out of life and how you might achieve those goals.
The course is useful for anyone thinking about or preparing for work and also for anyone who wants to build up their confidence and self esteem and manage change in their life more effectively.
The course will consist of around 10 students and usually takes place between 10.00am and 1pm.
There are no exams or tests and no right or wrong answers, just lots of activities, discussions, sharing, reflection and employing new ideas.
You will find new ways of looking at things and new ways of doing things.
You will build a portfolio which is yours to keep at the end of the course.
A Presentation Ceremony is held following completion of the course, where students will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
This presentation is followed by a buffet and it is also a chance for all the students to meet and socialise.
One of the main benefits of the course is being part of a group....friendships are formed; we laugh, enjoy each other’s company and support each other.
There is lots of help and support throughout the course.......don’t worry if you struggle with reading and writing or you haven’t studied for a long time. It’s not like being at school and you won’t be asked to do anything that you are not comfortable with.

Course Overview Carers – BSBC Course
Experience and Strengths
We will look at how, and what, we have learnt from experience. We will examine the skills that we use, perhaps even without being aware of them. We will consider what’s important to us and hope that this can influence our decision making; the importance of the things we can do and our attitude and approach. How our strengths can be useful in new situations and how we can move towards achieving our goals.
Co Working
Looking at how we work together with others as a team, how we can communicate effectively and respond and react to others in a positive way. We’ll participate in the planning of a day trip and look at where we fit in within a team. Partaking in the activity will include evaluating the trip and analysing as a group and as an individual what skills and benefits you gained from the experience of planning.
Acquiring Ability
Gaining competence – what makes someone good at a job or task and how they reach this point. It’s not all about what we learn at school! We look at how the right combination of knowledge, skills and attitude lead to competency, or "doing it well”.
Being Inventive
We will look at how we deal with change and consider how we might be able to make change work for us. We will think about what it means to be enterprising and creative and make the most of opportunities. We will look at how we can tackle problems and solve them using new and creative techniques; how we can generate ideas. We will also consider where we can find help to achieve this.
Improving Performance and Learning
We’ll looks at how you can set goals, meet targets and improve your performance, helping you concentrate on translating your goals into more precise and achievable objectives, as well as assist you in devising a plan to help you achieve these targets
